The dramatic Havel sculpture is the perfect object for a long, narrow sightline and pulls the visitor in from the entry.
The title wall features a large lenticular graphic, highlighting the theme of the exhibition, nature vs. man.
Rooted
Rooted explores the connection between people and the natural world. This show is divided into three sections: Adapting and Transforming; Sustenance and Hunting; and Traversing. The subject matter and sections called for a design solution that acknowledged the relationships between these three concepts, while distinguishing each gallery space as its own entity. The paint colors on the walls are reflective of the vibrancy found in the objects, while the bases of each case are painted a bright color to correspond with that gallery and to provide a visual clue to the visitor regarding way finding.
In addition to providing visually designed prompts for the visitors, in-gallery activities and enhanced graphics amplify the experience in connecting the art to the visitor experience. Each section contains a designated activity related to the theme of the section, and graphics printed on honeycomb cardboard panels bring texture and dimensionality to the spaces. A large lenticular graphic on the title wall pulls the visitor into the space, with images of nature on one side and the Dallas skyline on the back.
