On Assignment: Dallas Times Herald 1963

Responding to the stated goals of this client to encourage repeat visitation through a fresh presentation of the story of the JFK assassination in 1963, the design of this exhibition honors the historical space in which it is installed by working in harmony with the built elements to highlight the events of the day.

Due to the historical limitations of the gallery, temporary exhibition walls are configured to promote accessibility and discovery around each corner. Objects that illustrate the story are mounted for display and grouped according to the locations assigned to specific Dallas Times Herald reporters on the day of the assassination. Additionall, a recreated newsroom centers the exhibition as a hub for visitors to truly immerse themselves in the chaos of the moment. Using photos from the permanent collection as reference, set pieces, graphics, and furniture, build out the experience and lend authenticity to the space.
